Course

Whitecraigs is an attractive parkland course, situated in mature tree-lined surroundings. Located conveniently in the South of Glasgow, its rolling fairways and closely contoured greens provide an enjoyable and rewarding golfing experience. The course appeals to all levels of golfer and each hole offers a fair but challenging test. Comprising of an 18 hole course at over 6000 yds, and complemented by a leisurely 9 hole par 3 course, the courses attract players of all skill levels.

Hole 1 - Par 3 129yds * Watson's First * A tricky opening hole to an elevated green with the out of bounds on your right hand side. The green is sloping and there is a small round bunker on the left. There is not much room at the back of the green so club selection is very important.
Hole 2 - Par 4 370yds * Rouken Glen * A straight forward par 4 with most of the trouble on the right hand side. A good tee shot will leave you a mid iron into a slightly elevated green which is surrounded by bunkers.
Hole 3 - Par 4 348yds * Davieland * A dogleg right with heavy woods ready to collect any slices from the tee. It requires an accurate drive, keeping on the left hand side of the fairway. The green lies in a flat valley area below the level of the fairway and will feed from left to right upon hitting the green.
Hole 4 - Par 4 430yds * Perry Vale * It's a tough par 4, check out the position of the green before leaving the tee. A well struck tee shot is required and also a long second shot uphill. Green is flat with no trouble and a 4 is a good score on this hole.
Hole 5 - Par 3 160yds * Lomond View * Generous green here, but you must avoid the many bunkers. There is quite a lot of room towards the front of the green which might not be apparent from the tee.
Hole 6 - Par 5 513 yds * Wolfe’s Way * First par 5, with a good tee shot struck down the left side you are in position. Second shot tricky as ball usually below your feet. Marker behind the green shows the way but you need to be accurate.
Hole 7 - Par 3 183yds * Craig End * A par 3 but more elevated than the first hole. Remember to take more club as you are hitting uphill. Bunkers provide a good degree of protection.
Hole 8 - Par 4 345yds * Kestrel’s Eyrie * New experience here as fairway runs from right to left. Longer hitters beware as fairway bottlenecks up at the fairway bunkers. No trouble at the front of the green.
Hole 9 - Par 4 410yds * Capelrig * Tee shot hit slightly left of centre, will open up the green. The plateau green requires a good approach shot but it's deceptive as there is some dead ground to cover.
Hole 10 - Par 4 433yds * Netherton * Tee shot should be right of the trees on the left corner. Good second shot required on approach as ball will feed left to right around the green. If you miss it’s a tough up and down.
Hole 11 - Par 4 357yds * Devil’s Elbow * Long hitters may take on the corner of this dogleg, but most will play for position. Don’t block yourself out by being too tight down the left side. Burn runs across the front of the green catching those who underclub.
Hole 12 - Par 4 326yds * The Plateau * Marker provides the line here but not if tee positioned on the left, play slightly left of marker if left tee is in use. Bottleneck fairway again for long hitters. Yardage is your goal with approach shot to a small green with bunkers at each side.
Hole 13 - Par 3 191yds * Lang Wait * Longest par 3 on the course and straight forward enough. No trouble at the front of the green, so pick the right club and let’s move on.
Hole 14 - Par 4 365yds * Rysland * Where’s the fairway? Once again marker provides the line. Good tee shot required to get over the hill and up on the short stuff. Second shot needs to be spot on as the green falls away at the front.
Hole 15 - Par 5 545yds * West Brae * Long par 5, aim for the marker with your drive, long hitters may get down to the bottom of the slope. Plot your way down the fairway with your approach avoiding the bunkers to a sloping green guarded at the front.
Hole 16 - Par 3 150yds * The Dip * Medium length par 3, it’s a downhill shot from an elevated tee. Accuracy is all important here, you don’t want to miss the green as the recovery will be tricky. Green is quite long with two bunkers placed at front right.
Hole 17 - Par 4 254yds * The Beeches * Short par 4 with tee shot ideally hit right of the marker. Beware though straying too far left or right on such a short hole. Long hitters may reach the green but bunkering may catch you out one way or another.
Hole 18 - Par 5 549yds * Hame * Last but not least a par 5 to finish. Straight forward drive and give it all you’ve got. Fairway runs slightly downhill on the approach and three shots to the green is comfortable. Green slopes back to front and is surrounded by bunkers. Putt out and move onto the 19th hole.
